Meet Dr. Jamie
Rev. Jamie Eaddy, DMin. is a uniquely gifted healer, dreamer, educator, theologian, thanatologist, and traumatologist whose work spans a broad spectrum of care and transformation. Her passion lies in promoting healing and well-being, particularly in navigating the complexities of trauma, loss, and grief. She is committed to justice and liberation and integrates expertise in thanatology and trauma with her innovative educational, guidance, and care services.
Believing in a multi-sensory approach to healing, Dr. Jamie incorporates sound therapy, aromatherapy, and somatic practices into her work. Her clients include educators, activists, clergy, medical professionals, community members, and organizations who seek her support during some of the most challenging and distressing times in their lives.
Dr. Jamie is deeply committed to challenging systems that perpetuate harm and creating sacred spaces that honor shared humanity. She actively promotes a decolonized approach to learning and care, striving to dismantle the white-centered frameworks often present in death care and grief support circles. Recognizing that swallowed grief is never digested, she envisions her work as providing a space for breath, empathy, and transformation.
Her academic and professional achievements reflect the depth of her dedication. A 2015 Princeton University Black Theology and Leadership Institute Fellow, she holds a Master of Divinity from The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. Dr. Jamie is also a Clinically trained chaplain, a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) and a Fellow in Thanatology (FT) through The Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC).
Her extensive work has resonated nationally and internationally, particularly her sessions on the intersections of Trauma, Black Grief, and White Supremacy. As a world traveler, she continuously deepens her understanding of cultural expressions of grief, allowing her to guide organizations in rethinking and decolonizing their care practices.
Dr. Jamie is the Director of Counseling and Wellness for the Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia (AVP), supporting individuals and communities impacted by violence and homicide. She is also the author of Getting Naked to Get Free and the curator of The Ratchet Grief Project®, reflecting her commitment to innovation in healing and transformation.
Dr. Jamie has supported countless chaplains, ministers, therapists, and mental health professionals through her work, empowering them to flourish in their roles. Her dedication to addressing grief in its many forms, from personal loss to systemic and environmental grief, reflects the vastness of her vision and the depth of her compassion.
